Dr. Haemi Lee , MD, FRCSC

Dr. Lee is board-certified Plastic Surgeon, accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada – the highest national standard for medical and surgical expertise.

Her extensive medical training background started at the University of Western Ontario in 2003 where she obtained her Medical Doctorate. She completed a 5-year residency training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Western Ontario. In 2012, she was accepted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons as a board-certified Plastic Surgeon. She received the Mentor Fellowship at the University of Toronto in Oncologic and Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery, working closely with world renowned breast and reconstructive surgeons at the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. She received further training abroad in Seoul, South Korea, to learn innovative techniques used for Asian plastic surgery. She continues her work in Ottawa, focusing on breast and body plastic surgery.

Dr. Lee is a staff surgeon at the Queensway Carleton Hospital, where she regularly performs surgery and is the elected President of the Medical Staff Association. She is an associate medical staff member at the Ottawa Hospital where she is involved in microsurgical breast cancer reconstruction. She teaches and trains new Plastic Surgeons as a Lecturer (VPT) at the University of Ottawa, Faculty of Medicine. She also provides plastic surgery services at the Perth & Smiths Falls District Hospital in skin cancer removal and cosmetic surgery.

She has a passion for breast cancer reconstruction and is involved in the organization of Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day in Ottawa.

At home she is a busy mother of 3 children who provide her with extra training in patience and compassion. An artist her entire life, Dr. Lee’s enjoys polymer clay sculpture, acrylic and oil painting. During the pandemic, she has picked up a new hobby for care of her garden and lawn.
